About
The Flockery is a campaign that aims to educate, listen to, and finally connect young adults to their local agricultural community in New York. Aging farmers need a youthful, reliable labor force and customer base to stay in business. By investing in these local farms, these young adults can help combat climate change, access delicious and nutritious food, and enhance their local economy.
The Facts
NO. 1
Farmers are not immortal
Less than 2% of the USA population raises food and the average age of these awesome individuals is 61…holy cannoli.
NO. 2
Climate Change is Real
California is burning up and the Midwest could blow away any second. These 2 regions are our current food hubs. These farms are massive monocultures that have negative environmental impacts. We need a resilient food system to feed our growing population. The Flockery highlights NY farms that use regenerative farming practices to raise food. Their lands are diverse and healthy and help heal our planet. This is behavior we want to encourage, yes?
NO. 3
NY Agricultural Center
Making NY the next agricultural center means that we do not need to rely on sourcing our food from across the country. Because when the zombies come, we are going to want to know someone NEAR BY that knows how to raise food. Lets get young people to invest in their local farms.
